Springboro, OH: Fall Family Minis
Mini sessions arenβt really my bread and butter. However, this year, some community events made it possible for me to spend a little extra time styling a fall-themed shoot. I met 36 different families this fall season, and while it may initially feel like standing in front of the same backdrop as the next person in line may take away from your individuality, I hope you can see the variations between each of the above photos.
I affectionately shoot and edit with the light. On an afternoon during one of these styled shoots, it was actually raining for the first half hour followed by the sun coming out in full light. Greens and yellows really change their vibrance when the sun comes and goes, and if you look closely at the grass and trees in each of these pictures, you can probably guess what the sun was doing!
Client Tips!
Finding out the best session type for your family is an integral step in booking a photographer. There are many options between styled shoots, individual family sessions, mini sessions, and styled mini sessions. If you love documenting seasons and special holidays throughout the year, mini sessions might be your favorite! They give you the ability to have a handful of different themed family photos to shake up the variety. You might also appreciate mini sessions if you have young kids or pets. They grow and change so fast, especially in the first 2 years of life, that having many opportunities to get their photos in a short session will capture that.
Photographer vocabulary corner: Mini Sessions are short shoots usually ranging between 15-45 minutes. Most photographers guarantee somewhere between 5-20 images depending on the time frame of the session. These shoots will typically have many appointments scheduled on the same day to utilize the photographer's time and their backdrop. Mini sessions can have a theme or season featured, which is helpful in giving you ideas of which colors to pull from your wardrobe. Every photographer handles mini shoots differently, so make sure you understand all of the ins and outs of your shoot before booking.
