Dayton, OH: In-home Newborn session
This baby could teach a masterclass to other babies on how to nap. I’ve never met another fresh baby already crushing the nap game like this little guy. He slept almost the whole time, and outside of some snack breaks, he was just a napping king. Which is probably a good quality to have when your big sister has enough energy for the whole family.
Also, if you paint all your walls with eggshell finish, I will love you forever. It’s the perfect paint for photos because you get no glare or light reflecting. It’s a soft background, and this little guy's nursery colors were a perfect backdrop for their session.
Client Tips!
When shooting siblings, especially toddlers, give lots of breaks. Rewards, prizes, TV show time, whatever you can think of to incentivize the little kids to have a good time. When you’re in your own home with toddlers, there’s a list of pros and cons when it comes to getting their ample participation in a session.
Pros: it’s their turf. The landscape is familiar and allows them to feel like they have a little more control, especially if your photographer is a stranger to them. They know where their toys are, how to access snacks, and sometimes they’re so excited to show everything off to the new person that their nerves go away instantly.
Cons: All of the same reasons. They know exactly where to go for distractions, they lose interest easier, and they’re more likely to mess up that perfectly steamed outfit you picked out with a snack. Just know that your photographer should be prepared to make the whole process a good time, so don’t feel like the cons will weigh you down and just remember to exude a little extra patience for your shoot.
