Dallas, TX: Summer Extended Family Session
This shoot was special to me primarily because of all those cute nieces and nephews of mine! I thought I’d try something wild on our yearly vacation home and shoot my own family's photos. Was I cool, calm, and collected? Of course not! Do you see all those toddlers? I’m surprised nobody got lost, let alone smiled for the camera. But we made it happen, and at the end of the day, everybody’s eyes are open.
Client Tips!
If you’re planning a large family photo shoot, pick a color palette for everyone to choose from. We selected periwinkle, sage, khaki, cream, and white for these breezy summer photos. When dressing your own family members, try to pick one of the different colors in the palette. That way, you will be able to stand close to each other in the large group photos without blending into one another.
Do bring noise makers, squeaky toys, and bubbles if you have small children you need to entertain. 10 out of 10 kids want to play the moment they’re outside, so having something to turn picture-taking into a game gets lots of giggles and smiley faces. And while we’re talking about kids, make sure you get in a REALLY good nap before heading out to your session. Even those bigger kids who might not normally nap may need some extra rest before an outdoor session. Nobody smiles when they’re grumpy!
