Springboro, OH: Fall Maternity Session

The mom-to-be had to document her last journey through pregnancy, and she absolutely brought all of nature's beauty together with her simple yet absolutely gorgeous dresses! We successfully completed 2 looks, and it was all made easier by a camp tent pop-up shower. Sometimes getting changed in the back of your car or a public bathroom while you’re on location is absolutely out of the question. So, I always have my handy pop-up tent so my clients feel safe and have the needed privacy when doing a quick wardrobe change.

Client Tips!

Buy the dress! Really, even if you think it’s too much of a statement piece, I promise you'll look phenomenal. Maternity shoots have come quite a long way in the last 10 years, and the key to making your photos feel classic and timeless is your wardrobe. Subtle tea dresses or the big flowy gowns with a train will always translate well from your baby bump to the final photo. Dresses like these can have a heavier price tag, as some might need alterations, but buying second-hand or using a gown from your photographer's client closet will help curb some of those costs.

Photographer vocabulary corner: Client closets are clothes or, more specifically, dresses that the photographer owns and either lets you borrow or rent wardrobe pieces for your shoot. Client closets are becoming more popular with maternity and family photographers as buying the dress for mom or sisters might be out of the budget for your family. The above beige gown is now a proud member of my own client closet, available for my future maternity clients. Some photographers (like me!) might even offer to buy your gown at a discount after your shoot if you do end up purchasing a new dress but no longer have a use for it once your pictures are wrapped.
